How Likely Are Medical Groups Without an EHR System To Participate in Pay-for-Purchase Incentive Programs?

Forty-five percent of health care professionals at medical groups without an electronic health record system said they would be very likely to participate in a pay-for-purchase EHR proposal being considered in the economic stimulus bill, according to a survey by Allscripts.

Health IT Funds Survive in Senate's Stimulus Bill

A majority of the Senate has come to an agreement on a $780 billion economic stimulus bill that preserves most of the $23 billion in health information technology funding approved earlier by Senate committees.

With the support of three Republicans, won over by cutting other sections of the bill, the Senate is expected to approve its version of the stimulus bill Feb. 10, according to news services.

The House and Senate then will begin to reconcile their two bills, which differ in many respects. The House bill calls for about $20 billion in net health IT spending.

House passes stimulus package with $30 billion in net health IT bonuses

The House passed an $819 billion economic stimulus bill Wednesday night that includes $20 billion for healthcare IT and policy changes that are expected to result in $30 billion in net bonuses for providers who adopt and use certified healthcare IT products over the next 10 years.
