A billing partner for medical practices, Spectra Health Care Management has been working with DAS since 2008. “Aprima has turned out to be a great product for us,” says Partner Ronn Kelly, “We’re using it in all capacities with our clients.
The time savings both Spectra Health Care Management and the physicians they serve have experienced since implementing Aprima and interfacing the medical records with the practice management side of the business has been tremendous. Kelly described the multitude of steps that were formerly required to send out billing and get paid as both more labor intensive and more susceptible to human error. “Before Aprima, a doctor would have to go through and manually check off a charge ticket of what they did for each patient. Then that charge ticket would go to someone else in the office to scan and email it or fax it. That charge ticket would arrive at our office and we would have to print it out again so we could work off that document,” described Kelly.
By eliminating all the handling, faxing, scanning and printing, Kelly has seen a huge reduction in turnaround time. Billing with Aprima has not only created efficiencies, it has created time savings, materials savings and fewer chances for human error in processing. “We used to go through paper like there was no tomorrow,” recalls Kelly.
Kelly sees physicians getting paid faster now that they use Aprima. “One of our clients, prior to going full-circle with us, was running weeks behind the date of service,” says Kelly, “Once we were up and running, we were able to help them turn claims around the same day. It’s transformed their finances.”
Kelly explains that having a local support team has proven invaluable. “If you’re with a huge company you become customer #12345.” When a great deal of software support is being done virtually, to be able to see your EHR partner, get to know them and know you can access them when you need them is different. “Your work is not being outsourced abroad, it’s being done here in Tampa,” says Kelly, “The fact that they are accessible is a huge windfall for physicians. They live here and can come by and see you anytime compared to other companies where someone flies in to see you 1-2 times a year.”
Kelly’s advice for physicians looking at DAS and Aprima? “Talk to folks using it. Call the doctors using it. Ask them what it was like before implementing Aprima compared to now. Look at their desks, you won’t see paper anymore. That’s the testimonial.”
